Handshake-Alliance provides IBM 5250 terminal emulation and file transferfor connectivity of UNIX systems to IBM midrange systems such as theAS/400 and System 34/36/38 via twinax.With its simple, menu-driven interface, multiple UNIX users can accessthe IBM midrange system, providing easy-to-use, reliable file transfer.For unattended file transfers, commands are available for use withinshell scripts. Printer support is also provided, with which the UNIXsystem printer can act as an IBM midrange system printer.Handshake-Alliance includes an internal twinax adapter for the unixsystem, allowing up to seven sessions on a single twinax. Multiple twinaxadapters are supported, allowing up to 28 sessions.Handshake-Alliance uses the Andrew Emulator Transfer Utility (ETU)program on the IBM midrange system to perform translations betweenvarious IBM EBCDIC file formats and UNIX system ASCII format.
